How time has flown

How time has flown!  I am in the process of packing my suitcase to head out to Florida tomorrow afternoon.  I had to dig out some summer clothes since it looks like it will be rather warm on Friday for DL’s dressage (77 forecasted).
I called Larry on Saturday and he returned my phone call on Sunday morning.  I guess everything went well on the trip down to FL with Dawna Lisa and Larry’s horses.  According to Larry the weather has been very warm in the high 70’s and low 80’s.  DL LOVES the hot weather.  The hotter it is the better she goes.  But because of the heat, Larry has had her clipped (earlier than expected).
Poor DL has never had a body clip before.  I hope she behaved herself for the kind lady that did it.  I wonder what ‘color’ she is going to be.  Normally, she is a medium liver chestnut with a lovely glossy coat.  I suppose she will know be a gross mousey color with the prickly coat of a recently clipped animal.  I had asked Larry to keep her feathers….  We will see and I promise to post pictures.
As to Larry’s report card of how she is doing.  “Claudia, she is with the program.  She is a different mare than one you dropped off at the end of November in Massachusetts.”  I think this means that she is doing well <VBG>.  Larry then told me that after some road work, he is working her in dressage.  He thinks she is coming along nicely.
I am not sure if DL is going in all three phases of Nature Coast.  He did mention a concern that he has with all his horses as not having enough condition on them to do the marathon.  I don’t know IF this means his ‘pony’ (DL) also.  No matter what, he will do the dressage and cones for sure.
This matters little to me.  I know Larry will do the best by my mare as possible.  Larry knows I am into this for the ‘long haul’.  The glory of it all matter little to me.  Just getting Dawna Lisa some exposure to her first CDE is worth all the money.  I certainly do not want her ‘overfaced’, and not happy with her first experience in the CDE world.
Well, I guess I better go to the barn and bring in the other three Cob girls.  I am planning to get to bed early because tomorrow will be a long day.  I will be teaching in the morning and leaving school early for my 3 pm flight to Tampa, FL.  I am sure I will be having more than a little fun driving in the dark (2 ½ hours) to find the cottage in Morriston, FL (nine miles from Black Prong).
LET the excitement and all the work of the past two years come to some fruition.  Will DL make the grade?  As long as Larry and I think Dawna Lisa has done her best by Sunday afternoon, I think we are well on the way to the future.
